PCL損傷の頻度は正確にはよくわかっておらず、1-44%と報告に差がある。おそらく不顕性のPCL単独損傷は相当数いるのだろう。
なおNFL選手の2%に無症状のisolated PCL injuryが発見されたという報告もある。

・後外側関節包の一部でもあるし、尾側では膝窩筋腱と一体となっている
・膝窩筋腱と協調して、LMの過度な動きを抑制し、安定させる
